The Basics

You may not have known this about me...but I'm a doodler. A scribbler. I sit and grab a pen and whatever surface nearest me that can be drawn upon without consequence finds itself covered with the images that my brain puts out. Sneakers, whatever scrap of paper is nearest, margins of notes, and once I drew on a rock or two...but my favorite thing to draw on is me. Or you. People, really.

I love the blank canvas sensation of a person's hand or arm or leg or ankle or whatever I get the opportunity to leave my mark on. I love the fact that it's erasable and mutable, and I love working with the shape and line of a person. I can't explain why my brain puts the images it does to paper, or why different lines go to different people, and I can't explain how my brain balances an image or how it decides to stop...I just know that it does, and I'm darn grateful for it.

Every once in a great while, a friend will just hand me a hand or an arm and tell me to draw. So I do. And I promise, the pained look on the model's face has nothing to do with the quality of the art...she's actually laughing. Weird, I know.

  1. I need to get you to draw on me more. It's always so pretty!
